American Sailing Association is the leading authority on sailing instruction and sailing schools in the United States. The Croton Sailing school is affiliated with the American Sailing Association.

ASA certification is recognized by sailing organizations all over the world and may be required by boat rental or chartering establishments.

The First Step is to Take a Sailing Course!

Croton Sailing School’s ASA Courses:

Basic Hands-On (ASA 101) : 12 hours learn to sail course aboard a 24′ Rainbow

Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103) : 14 hour learn to cruise course on a 26′ yacht with auxiliary power

Bareboat Chartering (ASA 104) : Earn your ASA 104 Bareboat certification by joining us for one of our Caribbean sailing vacations!

Coastal Navigation (ASA 105) : 15-hour classroom course teaching chart reading, plotting, and dead reckoning

You are now ready to take the Certification Exam!

Take a 30-45 minute multiple choice test that aligns with the ASA course and may be taken at any time. Pay $75 certification fee (Fee is waived for already certified ASA students)

When you become ASA certified you will receive:

An official American Sailing Association log book. A certification sticker to be placed in your log book.

ASA Log Books:

Carry your ASA log book to demonstrate what sailing courses you have taken. If you wish to log your sailing hours the ASA log book has a section to log each time you go sailing. Croton Sailing School will provide you with the log book and American Sailing Association will mail you the certification sticker shortly after the completion of the course.
